AFC Trust Meeting With AFC |
24/09/2008 |
 |
Periodically, AFC trust meets with AFC officials to discuss issues of particular concern for Trust members. Accordingly, Gordon Duncan, Una Tod and Bill Ellis representing the Trust met Willie Miller, Duncan Fraser and Chris Gavin at Pittodrie on Tuesday 23 September. In a full and frank discussion lasting over 2 ½ hours, the topics covered (with brief details), included:
- Finance: Due mainly to last seasons excellent European run, AFC Financial performance is ahead of current business plan projections and there are no concerns with existing bank facilities or banking arrangements
- Stadium: The stadium feasibility plan is ongoing with AFC presently meeting the cost to ensure project stays alive. The Trust reiterated the need for fan consultation at appropriate times
- Attendances: Season ticket sales marginally up this season probably due in part to freezing costs. AFC will continue with the policy of reporting actual attendance figures rather than the policy of using season ticket figures plus others, giving distorted attendance figures, adopted by some clubs
- PR: As has been seen recently, Jimmy Nicholl is now doing some more of the media interviews
- Youth Development: This is rightly treated as a major investment by AFC and at least four good players are expected to break through in coming years. This is clearly a long term commitment and a necessary part of sustaining AFC progress
- Commercial Activities: AFC admitted certain deficiencies with kit provision but were now happy overall with this area. Corporate advertising and sponsorship had virtually reached saturation point with maximum exploitation of existing facilities at Pittodrie. The Trust has long advocated looking at potential revenue streams outside of football and Pittodrie and will continue to do so, for consideration by AFC.
